Excalibur Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas

The Excalibur is a sparkling white castle complete with moat and drawbridge. Visitors crossing the moat are treated to a magical battle every hour after dark between a mechanical Merlin the Magician and a fierce smoke- and fire-belching dragon. From the exterior design to the interior with its towering stone walls, flagstone entryway and displays of armor, everything has been done to create the illusion that visitors have entered the age of King Arthur as soon as they approach the building. Like Circus Circus and the Luxor, the Excalibur is owned by Mandalay Resort Group. The first floor of this living fantasy holds carnival-style games and two motion sensor rides. The showroom is a beautiful medieval arena where visitors can watch a show featuring trained dogs in the afternoon or the Tournament of the Kings in the evening. The Medieval Village on the hotel's third floor is a quaint village filled with shops, restaurants and strolling entertainers such as magicians, jugglers and singers.
